What are your qualifications?
Having completed advanced nutrition courses from around the world, we use modern and science-backed knowledge and methods in all our consultations.
Do you work with all breeds and sizes of dogs?
Yes. We work with dogs of every breed, age, and size—from tiny puppies to large senior dogs.
Do you offer advice for puppies, adults, and seniors?
Yes. Each life stage has unique needs, and our services are designed to create appropriate plans for puppies, adults, and senior dogs.
Do you support all feeding forms?
Absolutely. Whether you feed kibble, raw, cooked, or something else, we can support you. Our approach is judgement-free, focusing only on what works best for you and your dog.
Is your advice judgement-free?
Yes. We know every dog owner does their best, and there are many good feeding approaches. We’re here to guide, not judge.
Do you replace my vet’s role?
No. Nutrition advice complements, but never replaces, veterinary care. We encourage you to keep your vet involved in your dog’s health.
How do I know which plan is right for my dog?
You can find more information about each plan on their individual page. If you’re unsure, you can start with an Online Consultation. During that session, we can help you decide whether a Nutrition Plan or Nutrition Plan Plus would suit your needs.
Do you work with dogs outside of Ireland?
Yes. As consultations are usually online, we can work with dog owners in many locations, not just in Ireland.
How are consultations delivered?
Consultations are usually delivered online via video call, so you can join from anywhere.
Do you offer in-person services?
Usually our services are online only, which makes them accessible and convenient for all clients, but we can organise bespoke in-person consultations. Please contact us via the contact form. Additional fees to cover travel costs may apply.
How do I book a service?
You can book directly through our website by choosing one of the available appointment times.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We understand plans change. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know as soon as possible. We hope you understand that we have to take a late cancelation fee of €20 if you have to reschedule within 24 hours before the appointment.
Do you offer packages for multiple dogs?
Yes, we can provide tailored nutrition plans for multiple dogs. Please contact us for details if you’d like more than one plan.
How often should I review my dog’s nutrition plan?
We recommend reviewing your dog’s plan if there’s a significant change, such as age, weight, activity level, or health status. For puppies, more frequent updates are often needed.
What makes Dognutrition.ie different from other services?
We offer expert, personalised guidance in a supportive and judgement-free way. Our goal is to give you confidence and peace of mind that your dog is eating a safe, balanced diet.
FAQ Online Consultation
What is included in the Online Consultation plan?
You’ll receive a 45-minute video call with a certified canine nutritionist. During this time, we’ll focus on your most important questions and provide clear, personalised guidance.
What types of questions can I ask?
You can ask about any nutrition-related topic, such as supplements, diet improvements, fussy eating, treat recommendations, portion sizes or how to find suitable alternative foods.
Do I get a full nutrition plan included?
No, a nutrition plan is not included in this service. The consultation is designed for answering questions and providing advice. If you need a structured plan, our Nutrition Plan or our Nutrition Plan Plus are more suitable.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book through our website by choosing one of the available time slots. Once booked, you’ll receive a confirmation email and a pre-consultation questionnaire.
How soon after booking will I receive the questionnaire?
You’ll receive the questionnaire as soon as possible after booking. This gives you enough time to complete it before our consultation so we can prepare in advance.
What if I’m not sure what to ask during the consultation?
That’s no problem. Many clients use the time to talk through general nutrition concerns, and we can guide the conversation based on your questionnaire answers.
Can I use this session if my dog has a medical condition?
Yes, you can use it for general advice. However, if your dog has a diagnosed health condition and needs a tailored feeding plan, we recommend our Nutrition Plan Plus service instead. LINK
Is this service suitable for puppies and senior dogs?
Yes, the consultation is suitable for dogs of all ages. Puppies, adults, and senior dogs all have different nutritional needs, and we can discuss those in your session.
Can we discuss specific brands of food or supplements?
Absolutely. If you have products in mind or are currently using certain foods or supplements, we can review them and talk about whether they suit your dog. Please mention them in the questionnaire so we can research them in advance.
What if my dog is a very fussy eater — can you help?
Yes. Fussy eating is a common challenge, and we can talk through strategies, ingredient options, and feeding approaches that may encourage your dog to eat more happily.
What if I have more than one dog?
The consultation can cover more than one dog, but time is limited to 45 minutes. If you’d like each dog to have tailored recommendations, a Nutrition Plan may be a better choice, please contact us via the contact form and we will make you a tailored offer.
Can my partner or family join the call too?
Yes. If multiple family members are involved in feeding your dog, they are more than welcome to join the call.
How much preparation do I need to do before the call?
The only preparation is filling in the questionnaire and, if you’d like, having any food labels or supplement details handy for us to review together.
What if I need more support after the consultation?
If you find you need more structured guidance, you can upgrade to one of our Nutrition Plan services. Many clients start with a consultation before deciding on a plan. Please ask us during the consultation and we will make you a tailored offer.
How do I know if this service is right for me compared to the full Nutrition Plan?
If you want reassurance, answers, and guidance without a detailed feeding plan, the Online Consultation plan is the right choice. If you want a complete, personalised plan for your dog’s diet, our Nutrition Plan or our Nutrition Plan Plus will be more suitable. Please also watch our explanation videos. If you are still unsure please get in touch via the contact form.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
We understand plans change. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know as soon as possible. We hope you understand that we have to take a late cancelation fee of €20 if you have to reschedule within 24 hours before the appointment.

What conditions can this plan help with?
We can support dogs with conditions such as kidney disease, pancreatitis, gut problems, weight concerns, and food allergies. Each plan is carefully tailored to the condition and your dog’s overall needs.

It’s important that any health condition is checked by a vet before we design a plan. This ensures we are working with accurate information. For kidney disease and pancreatitis we require a prior diagnosis.
Can you work alongside my vet?
Absolutely. We encourage collaboration with your vet and are happy to align the nutrition plan with their medical recommendations.
What if my dog is on medication?

We may benefit from seeing any available veterinary test results, diagnosis notes, or other relevant information to make sure we understand your dog’s medical condition and history.

That’s no problem. We can create a plan that takes multiple conditions into account, balancing all of your dog’s needs safely.
